Social First, a game development studio founded by Kim Soares and Mikko K?h?r? at the end of 2021, has successfully raised $4.2 million in its seed round of funding. The lead investor in this round was Crowberry Capital, with other participants including Business Finland and follow-on investment from the original seed investor, Play Ventures.
Social First will utilize the funds raised to support the development of an upcoming game that is currently unnamed but expected to be released later this year as a closed beta version. This new game will be a cross-platform social massively multiplayer online (MMO) title.
The company has assembled a team of 20 industry veterans from companies such as King Digital Entertainment (users betting), Rovio, and Paradox Interactive (P社) under Social First.
Hekla Arnardóttir, one of the founding partners at Crowberry Capital expressed her satisfaction with Social First's team saying they were "impressed by their extensive experience." She added that their early releases showed strong traction, indicating a deep understanding of social games.
She continued by stating that they were "excited" to support their early releases and looking forward to seeing them redefine the social game market.
