The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

　　ICC is the world business organization, arepresentative body that speaks with authority on behalf of enterprises fromall sectors in every part of the world. The fundamental mission of ICC is topromote trade and investment across frontiers and help business corporationsmeet the challenges and opportunities of globalization. Its conviction thattrade is a powerful force for peace and prosperity dates from theorganization’s origins early in the last century. The small group offar-sighted business leaders who founded ICC call themselves ‘the merchants ofpeace’

　　ICC has three main activities: rules-setting,dispute resolution and policy. Because its member companies and associationsare themselves engaged in international business, ICC has unrivalled authorityin making rules that govern the conduct of business across borders. Althoughthese rules are voluntary, they are observed in countless thousands oftransactions everyday and have become part of the fabric of internationaltrade。

　　ICC has also provides essential services,foremost among them the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the world’sleading arbitral institution. Another service is the World Chambers Federation,ICC’s worldwide network of chambers of commerce, fostering interaction andexchange of chamber best practice。

　　ICC enjoys a close working relationship withthe United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations, including theWorld Trade Organization and the G8.

　　ICC was founded in 1919. Today it groupshundreds of thousands of member companies and associations from over 130countries. National committees work with their members to address concerns ofbusiness in their countries and convey to their governments the business viewsformulated by ICC。

　　国际商会的英文全称是International Chamber ofCommerce，简称ICC，成立于1919年，总部设在巴黎，是世界上重要的民间经贸组织，是联合国(微博)的一级咨询机构。国际商会(ICC)与其他许多重要的国际组织，如世界贸易组织(WTO)、联合国贸易和发展会议(UNCTAD)、八国集团(G8)、二十国集团(G20)、世界经济合作及发展组织(OECD)，欧盟(EU)等保持着长期密切的合作关系，对这些机构和组织制定的有关经济政策提出重要的意见和建议。 

　　国际商会致力于在经济和法律领域内以有效地行动促进国际贸易和投资的发展，为全球商界提供服务。国际经贸规则制定、争议解决、政策代言是国际商会对全球商界服务的三大体系，国际仲裁、临时进出口单证系统、世界贸易信息网、出版物发行等是其服务全球商界的具体手段。这些都极大地便利和推动了国际经贸的健康发展。

　　国际商会在全球90多个国家设有国家委员会，拥有来自130多个国家和地区的各类型的会员单位，这些会员单位多是各国和各地区从事国际经贸活动的中坚组织。国际商会在中国的国家委员会，即国际商会中国国家委员会(ICC China)的是国际商会在中国的唯一代表机构。
