Dubai carrier Emirates has resumed services between the city and the Republic of Guinea.
The airline suspended services to the capital Conakry in August 2014 due to concerns surrounding the spread of the Ebola virus.
Emirates’ four times weekly service via Dakar took off today with a Boeing 777-300ER in a three-class cabin configuration.
On top of the eight first class, 42 business class and 310 economy seats, the carrier is also offering 20 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight.
EK797 will depart Dubai every Tuesday with EK795 leaving every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7:15am and arriving in Conakry at 1:30pm.
The flight then departs Conakry at 15:10pm and arrives in Dakar at 16:35pm before departing at 6:05pm and arriving in Dubai at 7:35am.
Emirates first announced it would resume the service, which it launched at the end of October 2013, in August.
The launch comes on the same day the carrier is due to suspend its four times weekly service between Dubai and Nigeria’s capital Abuja.
Airline president Sir Tim Clark said earlier this month it could reduce the frequency of flights to Africa or cut some routes altogether because of financial challenges on the continent.
