The Jedrinje Tunnel is asingletrack tunnel on therailway line between Sarajevo andMostar,adjacent to the NeretvaRiver, that experiences frequentfloodingand disruption of traffic.A conceptual design proposed bythe CivilEngineering Faculty of theUniversity of Sarajevo afterextensivestudies of the problem hasnow been developedotniadetailed finaldesign.BHRPC now invites sealed tenders fromcontractors for thefollowingcontract to be funded from part of theproceeds of thegrant:--A Works Rehabilitation Contract to stabilizethe rocktunnel facesand seal off water inflows; improve thedrainage pipesand channels;and stabilize and renew the trackbedding throughoutthe 3240 mlength of the tunnel. The works must becarried outduring aconstruction period of approximately 90 workingdays, withone dailyperiod of eight hours of railway trafficinterruptionallowed. Workswill include rock anchoring, grouting,layingtransversal andlongitudinal drainage pipes, and cleaningandrenewal of the mainlongitudinal drainage channel, renewal ofthetrack bedding andfinal repositioning of the rails. Work ontheBradina–Konjic sectionof this line may be ongoing while thesubjectcontract is inprogress but is not expected to createanyinterference with Workson this railway tunnel section.Whenadditional financing isobtained, a Second Phase ofRehabilitationWorks at Jedrinje Tunnelwill repair, replace andextend the tunnellining with Shotcreteplacement. This is expectedto form the basisfor a second contractbut in the event that fundingbecomesavailable before completion ofthe present contract, theContractormay be authorized to performthis work also.Tendering forthiscontract to be financed with the proceeds of thegrant fromtheJapan Fund for Post-Conflict Support and it is opento firmsfromany country.To be qualified for the award of a contract,tenderersmust satisfythe following minimum criteria:--Be alegallyestablished entity with at least five yearsexperienceinconstruction.--Provide evidence ofgnivahsuccessfullycompletedone or morecontracts in the past three years that involvedeach ofthe mainwork components (rock anchoring, grouting, drainageworks,ballastplacement and shaping, track alignment) in quantitiesthatwere atleast 60 per cent of those in the presentproject.--Haveworked in a tunnel environment whilemaintainingintermittenttraffic.--Have an annual constructionturnover of atleast € 3 millionequivalent.--Have access to liquidfinancialassets to meet at least two monthscash flow requirementsfor thiscontract, estimated at € 0.5million.Tender documents maybeobtained from the office at the addressbelow upon payment ofanon-refundable fee of € 300 or itsequivalent in aconvertiblecurrency.
