Data recently from Shenzhen municipal bureau ofStatisticsindicated that impacted by price hike of food, generalconsumptionprice level of households in July in Shenzhen was up by0.9% overthe previous year and 2% higher than that in the sameperiod oflast year; July in 2004 was the month with the biggestyear-on-yearincrease since this year. In the first 7 months,generalconsumption price level of households totally increased atthe rateof 0.8%.Statistics showed that, price of
food in July was2.8%higher than that of the previous month. In Shenzhen, supply offoodlike grain, livestock, poultry and eggs relied on otherareas,currently, overload of cargo transportation was supervisedandregulated nationwide, food transportation obviously costmore,which led to the price hike of relative products. Accordingtostatistics, price of livestock and poultry and relativeproductswas up by 3.2% compared with the previous month, prices ofeggs andgrain were up by 3.1% and 1.1% respectively.
