1998年9月 菲律宾前总统拉莫斯、澳大利亚前总理霍克、日本前首相细川护熙在马尼拉共同倡议成立“亚洲论坛”。 1999年10月 中国国家副主席胡锦涛会见拉莫斯、霍克及海南省领导,表示中国政府愿为论坛的创建提供支持与合作。 2001年2月 博鳌亚洲论坛”成立大会在海南博鳌举行,中国国家主席江泽民、马来西亚总理马哈蒂尔、尼泊尔国王比兰德拉及来自论坛26个发起国的政要、前政要等作为嘉宾与会。会议正式宣布告博鳌亚洲论坛成立。 2002年4月 4月11日,论坛第一次全体会员大会召开。 4月12-13日,博鳌亚洲论坛首届年会在博鳌召开,1000余位代表参加了会议。此次年会的主题为:“新世纪、新挑战、新亚洲”。首届年会特邀嘉宾包括中国总理朱镕基、日本首相小泉纯一郎、泰国总理他信和韩国总理李汉东以及其他来自政府、工商界和学术界的著名人士。 2003年5月 论坛2003年年会 博鳌亚洲论坛2003年年会将于5月18-19日在海南博鳌举行。本次年会的主题为“亚洲寻求共赢:合作促进发展”。预计将有1000余名代表与会。 Milestones September 1998 Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister of Japan issued the Manila Declaration jointly proposing the establishment of BFA. October 1999 H.E. Hu Jintao, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China met with Fidel V. Ramos, Bob Hawke, and leaders of the Hainan Provincial Government to express the Chinese Government’s wish to offer support and cooperation for the establishment of The Forum. February 2001 Boao Forum for Asia was officially inaugurated in Boao in the presence of H.E. Jiang Zemin, President of The People’s Republic of China, H.E. Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, H.M. Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, the late King of Nepal, the founding members of the Forum and other distinguished leaders and delegates from the 26 initial countries. April 2002 The First General Meeting of Members was held on April 11. The First Annual Conference of Boao Forum For Asia was held in Boao, Hainan from April 12-13, attended by over 1000 delegates, under the theme New Century, New Challenges and A New Asia. It was honored by the presence of Premier Zhu Rongji of China, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi of Japan, Prime Minister Lee Han Dong of Korea and Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand as well as many other distinguished guests. May 2003 AC 2003 The Second Annual Conference of Boao Forum For Asia will be held in Boao, Hainan, from May 18-19 under the theme Asia Searching for Win-Win, Development Through Cooperation. 1000 delegates are expected to attend the AC 2003.
