　　Mr. Pickering has been the Executive Director of Asia Society’s Northern California Center since 2003, with a background in government, non-profit organizations and academia. He serves as executive director of the California State Assembly International Relations Foundation Board.

　　Previously, he was the Director of Public Affairs and Development at the Graduate School of Journalism and the Special Assistant to the Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He also served as the Program Director of the World Affairs Council (1997-1999) and the Executive Director of the U.S. Japan 21st Century Project. Earlier in his career, he served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, specializing in Political and Arms Control issues (1981-1993), and was deputy political counsel on the U.S. delegation to the Conference on security and cooperation in Vienna during the collapse of the Soviet Union (1988-1992).

　　自2003年起，Pickering先生担任北加州亚洲协会执行主席。在此之前，Pickering先生在政府机构，非政府组织以及学术界拥有丰富的工作经验。目前，Pickering先生还担任加州国际关系基金会董事会执行董事。

　　Pickering先生曾任加州大学伯克利分校新闻学院研究生院公共事务与发展系的系主任，东亚问题研究所所长特别助理。1997至1999年间，Pickering先生任职于国际事务委员会，担任项目主任。Pickering先生还曾担任“美国日本21世纪项目”的执行总裁。1981年至1993年，他担任美国国务院外交事务官员，主要负责政治与军备控制问题；1988年至1992年前苏联解体时期，他更代表美国出席越南召开的安全与合作会议，担任副政治顾问。
