　　Born on May 4, 1941 in Basle, Switzerland, Bruno S. Frey later went on to study economics at the University of Basel in Switzerland and Cambridge University in England. He earned a Masters in Economics in 1964 and went on to graduate summa cum laude with a Ph.D. in Economics in 1965. In 1969, after a two-year stay in the United States, he received tenure. He has received Honorary Doctorates in Economics from both the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) in 1998 and the University of St. Goeteborg (Sweden) in 1998.

　　In 1969 he was an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Basle. He was a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Constance from 1970-77, and has been a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Zurich since 1977.

　　Dr. Bruno S. Frey was a Guest Professor at the Universities of Stockholm, Linz and Kiel, Valencia and Groningen and at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna; a Visiting Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford University; a Fellow of the Wissenschafts college in Berlin (Institute for Advanced Studies); and a Visiting Research Professor of Economics at the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago.

　　Dr. Bruno S.Frey is author of more than a dozen books (all available in English and German, and including a number of translations into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Galician, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese) and more than 350 articles in professional academic journals (most of them in economics and a few in political science, sociology and psychology).

　　He has been a Visiting Scholar and Professor at the following institutions:
